River Vision

Vision: The River Community Church is about helping people discover and strengthen their journey with Jesus.

Our Hope: The River Community Church would be a place to deal with real life, experience a real church and explore real community.

prayer [prair] noun :: the act or practice of offering a devout petition, praise or thanks to God.

The River Community Church is a faith community that has discovered the value of the practice of prayer. We have grown, cried, laughed and celebrated in moments of prayer throughout our seven year journey. And now is the time to envision the prayer-filled future for The River. Our Shepherding Team, led by Pastor Bruce Dykstra, have written out eleven prayers that we believe will help us be the church God has shaped us to be. Out of a season of praying our Prayer-Filled Vision we believe we are called to certain steps throughout 2012. Our vision and steps for 2012 are recorded here.

+ Our Prayer-Filled Vision

In our journey with God, we pray…

That we would see our greatest pursuit is to honor God with our whole life and our greatest problem is not moral failure but a failure to honor God [Romans 1:21].

That God’s love would shape our life towards honoring and copying Him [Galatians 3:5, Galatians 5:22-23 & Ephesians 5:1].

That the gospel story would be the redemptive story we live out [1 Corinthians 15:1-11]

In our journey with Jesus, we pray…

That we would find that the fullness of all things, the good and the bad, is in Christ and work towards God’s promise of good [John 10:10 & Romans 8:28].

That we would experience a holy spiritual discontentment with where our lives are and be spurred on by the hope of what our lives can be [Hebrews 10:19-25 & Romans 8:20].

That we would develop a taste for truth – even difficult ones [Psalm 119:11]

That we would embrace Biblical Christianity [2 Timothy 3:5]

That we would believe in the miraculous gifts of the Holy Spirit and earnestly desire them for God’s glory [1 Corinthians 14:39].

That we would be discipled by someone and disciple someone else [Matthew 28:19-20].

In our journey with others, we pray…

That we would grow in and responds to our love for one another [1 John]

That we would recognize that God has purposefully placed us here for His glory and we would respond by finding our place of service in God’s Kingdom work [Acts 17:26 & Ephesians 2:10].
